Easy menstrual pain relief regimen that works

One of the most dreaded days of every woman is the day when their monthly period starts. Lucky are those who do not have to endure the pain of their monthly menstrual cramps, and so sorry for gals who have no choice but to sit through it till their period ends.

Menstrual cramps, also known as dysmenorrhea, are characterized as throbbing pains that usually occur in the lower abdomen. This annoying pain is basically an indicator of the start of a woman’s cycle. However, the pain mostly triggers during the menstrual period. For some woman, the pain can be tolerated, but it can become intense to the point that it can affect a woman’s daily activities.

Women who are more susceptible to menstrual cramps are those whose period lasts for more than five days; those who are obese and overweight; those who are big alcohol drinkers and cigarette smokers; as well as those who start their period at an early age.

Since menstrual cramps can become so intense to most women, they oftentimes rely on drugs or medications to relieve the pain. However, it is not really good for women to become overly dependent on medications. There are, in fact, a number of natural pain relief regimen that a woman can do to get rid of annoying menstrual cramps.

The following are some helpful natural pain relief treatments that every woman should know in order to lessen and avoid menstrual cramps:

1. Soak in a warm bath.

Taking a warm bath once the pain starts is perhaps one of the most recommended quick remedies of many doctors. Women who are always suffering from menstrual cramps can also try using a heating pad to ease the pain.

2. Massage your lower abdomen.

As the pain starts to trigger, massaging the lower abdomen is a good way to reduce the cramps. The perfect way to do this is by lying down and repeatedly massaging the pained part of the body.

3. Regular exercise.

One of the best ways to avoid menstrual cramps is to make some changes in lifestyle. Regular exercising, for instance, will surely make one less susceptible to menstrual cramps.

4. Eat more carbs.

If a woman suffering from terrible cramps every month will add more carbohydrate-enriched goodies in her daily diet, menstrual pain is sure to lessen. Such is recommended by most doctors as drinking too much alcohol and caffeine, smoking, as well as eating salty foods are discouraged.

5. Get enough rest.

Stressed women are the ones who are more prone to experience menstrual pains. As such, doctors always advise women to have enough sleep and rest in order to avoid pain once menstruation starts. Some doctors also recommend patients to try yoga exercises and massages as these are great complementary and safe remedies for menstrual cramps.

Although the treatments mentioned above are not 100 percent effective and there are no studies that can further prove their efficiency, they are nonetheless superb complementary pain relief treatments for women who are frequently suffering from agonizing menstrual cramps.

The joys of gardening

The Joys of Gardening

If you are not a gardener, you may wonder why this hobby has become so popular even with city people who have the resources to go to the grocery and get food with much less effort. Perhaps much of the joy that comes from gardening originated in our baby boomer values that came from those golden “hippie” days of the 1960s. Part of the ethical and moral system of that time in our cultural history was the “back to the land” movement to get back to our roots and away from the alleged sins of modern society.

From this same movement we got the increased interest in vegetarianism, yoga, natural eating and the environmental movement. So, while we look back with a bit of chagrin on the idealism and sometimes radical values that this era of baby boomer history represents, there are some very good lifestyle choices that came from that era of our shared lives. And the love of gardening is one of the good things we kept from that time.

Gardening is a hobby that is unique among pastimes because virtually nothing bad can come of it. Even if you are a total failure at gardening and don’t produce a single morsel of food from your garden, just the act of working with the earth and making something grow is so therapeutic that it’s worth the effort even if you only grow weeds.

One reason gardening is a wonderful hobby is that it’s simple. But you can get as sophisticated and scientific at it as you please. Gardening is like fishing in the way that even if you are terrible at it, it’s entirely worth doing just for the joy of the time you are out there. There really is nothing comparable in therapy for going out in the garden in the evening after a stressful time at your job. Working with the soil and spending sometime nurturing and pouring your tender loving care into the garden can make those worries and anxieties of the office melt away. Then when you come in after an hour of gardening, those cares take on their proper perspective so you can deal with them.

Gardening in creativity for the uncreative. When you till your garden and prepare your soil, that is like a master painter preparing his paints to produce that masterpiece. But when you finally open the packages of seeds and have that joy of placing them just so in that carefully prepared soil, there is a sensation of making something happen that is new life and wouldn’t have happened because of you that refreshes even the most cynical baby boomer and puts them in touch with themselves and with nature in a way that is hard to match in any other pastime.

Even the simple act of watering the soil has almost a mystical regenerative power for you which is so refreshing that you will look forward to your time with your garden as much as any other part of your day. But when that day comes that you rush out to your garden after work and see those young sprouts come up that you so carefully planted and cared for, it’s a little moment of parenting that can bring real joy to your heart.

We know that we did not create the seed and that we are no more than caregivers in helping that plant sprout and then grow into a healthy fruit, herb or vegetable plant. By becoming part of the cycle of nature when you care for the plants in your garden, it gives you a feeling of completion and connection to God and his creation that could not even be replicated in the best of church services. Even the most hardened atheist will feel that connection to the eternal by simply spending time with the simple plants of the earth and letting them become part of the life he lives.

So don’t be afraid to put together a small plot of land and begin planning your little garden. Even if you are an apartment dweller, you can organize a garden with planter boxes and grow lights and get many of the same joys from your little garden that the master garden with acres of crops can get.

Dutch dating

Dutch Dating

Dutch dating means that each person will pay for

themselves when they go out on a date. This method of

dating is often the best when both parties are new to

each other, independent, or just friends.

Many people often like to go Dutch because they are

not comfortable with someone else paying for them.

This is common with women who are liberal or

independent in their thinking.

It is also common if funds are low for both parties.

Both people will split the costs of dinner and any

other activities chosen to do on the date.

They also might meet at the locations or drive

themselves so the other party isn’t responsible for

their transportation.

Dutch dating can be extremely casual and creates a

comfortable atmosphere many people are happy with when

a relationship is new.

Some people just aren’t comfortable with someone else

paying for anything for them until they get to know

them better. In addition, they don’t want to feel as

if they owe them for anything later.

Dutch allows the date to go in a successful manner

without the feelings of being ‘owed’. In addition,

many women understand the expenses associated with

dating and don’t believe it is fair that they guy

should pay for everything, especially if the two go to

an expensive restaurant and do something even more

expensive later.

Dutch dating is common for people who are not

comfortable with someone else spending money on them.

There are many liberal and independent women who are

very proud who prefer to pay their own way also. This

creates a comfortable atmosphere because no one feels

like they owe them for anything later.

Easy ways to handle bank foreclosure

Recently, my significant other and I found ourselves facing bank foreclosure on our home. We knew it was coming. We had missed several mortgage payments while we were laid off from our jobs at the mine. Stupidly, we decided not to communicate our problems to the bank. We tried to make do with part time jobs at fast food restaurants, but trying to make all of our payments on time and still have money to buy diapers and food for the kids was very difficult. It was a scary situation to be in.

The first step in bank foreclosure is missing a payment. It does not matter why you miss that first payment, but the foreclosure ball starts rolling at that point. Once fifteen days have passed from your missed payment, the bank usually tries to contact you. If you do not talk to the bank, more problems are in store. Forty-five days later, the next step is taken. At this point, you are usually warned, in writing, that you are facing foreclosure if you do not take action immediately. If you allow another thirty days to pass with nothing, the formal paperwork will begin.

There are several steps you can take before the formal foreclosure process begins. All of these, though vary from state to state. In some states, you can file for bankruptcy. Most will allow you to keep your home as a protected asset. There are two types of bankruptcy you can file for. You can have your debts wiped out, or you can have your debts reorganized so you can continue to pay lenders as much as you can while still having money to survive on. Either way, the ability to file for bankruptcy and keep your home will depend entirely upon the laws in your state. Another thing you can do before the formal bank foreclosure process starts is talk to your lender.

Most lenders are willing to work with customers to lower payments temporarily, suspend payments for a few months until you get back on your feet, or make some other arrangements. Banks do not want to foreclose on people. There isn't some guy sitting in an office giggling manically thinking, "Hmm, whose house can I take today?" Foreclosures are just as much hassle for the bank as they are heartache for you. The final thing you can do before the formal bank foreclosure process begins is look for resources to help you within your state. Many states have foreclosure prevention associations that will provide you with the resources you need in this difficult time.

Even with the best resources in the world, you may still be unable to prevent the sheriff from showing up on your doorstep with a foreclosure notice and giving you a few minutes to get any belongings you can grab and head for the streets where you may be spending a very long time. The important thing to remember is to try to prevent this nasty process before it starts.

Playing god landscaping your model railroad layout

One of the more fun aspects of model railroading is planning and executing the scenery and landscaping that your track and engines will meander through – for some it is almost like playing God in that you can decide and create on any scene you desire.

From fanciful hobbit themes, alien worlds or realistic recreations there is nothing that you cannot create and display, all it takes is a plan, some materials, a little skill and some time.

First and foremost you need a plan or at least a concept.

- Do you want to duplicate an existing landscape?

- Do you want a faithful historical recreation of a place now lost in time?

- Are you more inclined to creating a never-before seen or unlikely scenario to wow the masses?

Making a choice on one theme for your layout and staying true to that theme is perhaps the most important keys to success. If you change your methods and style in the middle of your landscape the result will be inconsistencies that will detract from the overall impression you are trying to form.

Ideally those you invite to view your work will see a delightful scene and the harder they look the more detail enforcing that scene they will find. Nothing is more enjoyable then hearing those delighted squeals as a viewer notices ever more subtle details as they come closer and closer … and the key to that is consistency.

Once you have a plan for the theme you need to decide on track placement and terrain. Many modelers create the terrain and then try to force the track to follow through that, just as occurs in real life – but one of the advantages of modeling vs. real life is that you can consider all aspects and requirements up front. If you know you will have a bend or a switch at certain points why design rough terrain that you will then try to overcome with 'grading' in your models at those points?

Next you should collect your materials – some items you can find around the house, others you may wish to purchase from dealers such as Oakridge Hobbies and JTT Micro Scale or your local hobby shop but always stay true to your plan. Just because you find an amazing little miniature you long to use doesn't mean it belongs in this model! Common materials you will need include:

1. Tables or Stands

2. Plywood (preferably ѕ” outdoor grade) for base if using stands

3. Glues

4. Twigs, 'dirt' gravel, crushed or powdered stones, herbs etc. for plants and groundcover

5. Paints of various kinds for touch-up, covering the base and backgrounds etc.

6. Poster board, wax paper, aluminum foil, tissues etc. for texturing and shaping

7. Styrofoam blocks and sheets for shaping

Optional items you may wish to use include:

8. Plaster of Paris and / or fiberglass

9. Talcum powder, pepper and salt, cayenne pepper – for texturing and colorants

10. Corkboard and cork 'paper'

11. Roof repair tar (for road surfaces etc.)

12. Paintable caulks and adhesives for securing items in place

What can a pair of sexy shoes do for you

Shoes are an every day part of life for most of us. We wear shoes to protect our feet from the harsh elements that they encounter on a regular basis. But the kind of shoes we choose is a matter of our own personal preferences and tastes.

When it comes to shoes, there are so many choices today that it almost boggles the mind. The activity that we are participating in or what we are trying to accomplish will have a direct impact on the type of shoes we choose to put on.

When it comes time to looking and feeling good about yourself, there is no substitution for a stylish pair of sexy shoes.

Sexy shoes can help you to gain a level of self confidence that might otherwise be unachievable.

Put on a pair of sexy high heels and they will boost you up to a new height that you might not be accustomed to. This will draw more attention to you thus increasing your confidence.

Additionally, wearing a pair of sexy high heel shoes will alter your stance having the effect of pushing your breasts up and forcing your buttocks outward. Both of these traits are highly appealing to the visually oriented male.

Many people feel that wearing sexy shoes even makes their feet appear smaller than they actually are.

Another wonderful benefit of dawning a pair of sexy heels is that they elongate the lines of the legs. This makes the legs look thinner and much more elegant to the onlooker.

So there you have it. Add up all of these benefits, take a look in the mirror and then ask yourself this question. What can a pair of sexy shoes do for me?

Benefits of fish oil for fitness and health

When the words oils and fats are mentioned, health-conscious individuals tend to run for cover. What they fail to realize is that there are good fats and bad fats. Complete avoidance of intake of oils and fats would actually be detrimental - rather than beneficial - to their health.

The Truth about Fish Oil

Essential fatty acids must always be part of our daily diet - without them, we take one step closer to our deaths. Essential fatty acids are divided into two families: omega-6 EFAs and omega-3 EFAS.

Although there are only very slight differences to distinguish the two groups of essential fatty acids from each other, studies have revealed that too much intake of omega-6 EFAs can lead to inflammation, blood clotting and tumor growth. The good news, however, is that the opposite is true for omega-3 EFAs. Omega-6 EFAs can be found in vegetable oils while omega-3 EFAs can be found in fish oils among other foods.

Omega-6 vs. Omega-3

Physicians and scientists are of the same opinion that the cause behind increasing cases of heart disease, hypertension or high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, premature aging and certain kinds of cancer is none other than an imbalanced intake of omega-3 and omega-6 EFAs.

As mentioned earlier on, omega-6 EFAs can be found in vegetable oils. This includes but is not limited to corn oil and soy oil, both of which contains high amounts of linoleic acid. Omega-3 EFAs on the other hand can be found also in marine plankton and walnut and flaxseed oils. It should be significant to take note that fatty fish and fish oils contain eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), fatty acids that have been observed to provide many benefits to the human body. In the early 1970's, a study on Greenland Eskimos have revealed that one of the major reasons why they rarely suffer from heart diseases is because of their high-fat diet (mainly composed of fish).

The two essential fatty acids, EPA and DHA, are also helpful in preventing atherosclerosis, heart attacks, depression and various forms of cancer. Fish oil supplemented food have also proven to be useful in treating illnesses like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, Raynaud's disease and ulcerative colitis.

Other Benefits of Fish Oil

There are a lot more illnesses and situations in which intake of fish oil has proven to be significantly beneficial.

Making the Heart Healthier

The heart is inarguably one of the most important parts of our body and having an unhealthy heart means having to suffer a rather limited lifespan. Naturally, it's in our best interests to keep our hearts happy and healthy and one way of doing that is eating food that contains fish oil.

In Athens, Greece, for instance, a study was made to show if there was a direct relationship between high fish diet and inflammation of blood vessels. The results revealed that those who ate more fish than the others had a lower level of C-reactive protein and interleukin-6, factors that are commonly used to measure likelihood of blood vessel inflammation. These benefits remained even when the various risks associated with high fish diet were taken into account.

Fish to Become Thin

In Perth, Australia, a study had revealed that fish consumption can be used against hypertension and obesity. Researchers of the UWA (University of Western Australia) have discovered that a weight-loss diet which includes a regular amount of fish consumption can be quite effective in reducing blood pressure and improving glucose tolerance.

Fish Oil to Combat Asthma

People suffering from respiratory problems like asthma tend to be perceived as unfit and unhealthy. They should now be pleased to learn that certain studies have revealed the benefits of fish oil for asthma-burdened-individuals. Statistics show that approximately 20 to 25% of children today suffer one form of asthma or another at a certain point in their lives. And certain evidence reveals a regular diet of food with high linoleic acid content as the reason behind it.

Researchers of UW (University of Wyoming) conducted a study by subjecting a number of children to a high-fish diet while others continued with their regular diet. Results revealed that the participants who ate more fish were less prone to asthma attacks and were able to breathe more easily as well.

Consult Your Nutritionist Now

Nothing is good when consumed or used excessively but complete avoidance of a particular food type is equally harmful as well. Ask your nutritionist for the right amount of fish intake for your age and health status.

The power of employee recognition

What does it take to truly motivate an employee? What breaks an employee's resistance to showing up on time and lets them work with joy? What makes employees brag about the company that pays them?

How do successful corporations succeed in keeping loyal employees? Not by fear or intimidation. Once pressure is applied 'to perform or produce,' either more or better, the average employee becomes less effective.

Many employees are completely self-motivated and never need any outside impetus. They are content with fulfilling their own inward goals. Others need some inspiring, positive feedback in order to apply their most creative and heartfelt energies to a job. They need an incentive to feel they belong, to have a sense of identity with the corporation they work for. The desire for recognition resides in all of us and having this need acknowledged is an important part of one's work life.

Although an employee is an individual and works as an individual, there is always a need to be aware that the employee is also a part of the whole group, the total corporation, and that each individual is important. When the corporation treats the employees as someone important, the employees will also feel the corporation is important and will feel proud to be a part of its success and growth.

The secret of employee performance comes from the awareness by management or peers that a person is doing a great job and then outwardly recognizing that performance. One proven technique is giving corporate awards that recognize the unique contribution that an employee provides. To be powerful, this award needs to be of a lasting nature and something that others will be able to see and recognize. A sincere compliment is always welcome, but material objects such as rings make the difference in employee loyalty. The inspiration received from a corporate gift can transform an entire department. Motivation to do an even better job enlivens the atmosphere.

Employees aren't usually going to blatantly ask for recognition. Actually, when singled out for a special award they will appear shy and mutter something about not really deserving it. However, inside they are glowing and are probably having a hard time holding back tears of appreciation -- making acceptance speeches isn't part of one's everyday activity in ordinary corporate life. When an employee receives a reward in the form of a pay raise, the reaction is usually one of relief. "Whew! I actually got it!" When one receives a Safety Award Ring or a Company Ring with a special inscription on it, awkwardness can be expected. The implication, silently stated, is, "You are unique and special! We truly appreciate you." Acceptance of this appreciation is often best expressed with eyes meeting in trust and a nod of the head.

The power represented by an award of this type goes beyond the dollar value in a corporation. Without loyal, fantastic employees a corporation doesn't exist. Those who are the life blood of the corporation truly deserve all the awards and recognition that are bestowed upon them.

Logo design for non designers

The main purpose of this article is to help non-designers understand the logo design process, general terms, requirements and things to remember when ordering a logo.

When you decided that your company needs a logo you need to think if you need a completely new logo or redesign the old one (of course, if you have it) before searching for a designer. Redesign of the existing logo is often cheaper than design of a new logo.

There are a huge number of companies which offer logo design services. All of them have different prices, number of concepts and revisions offered. Some of them can design business stationery for you. Let’s talk about every point in detail:

Price is important factor; it is very unusual to receive high quality at low price. But Internet is the place where designers work from all over the world and logos are going down in price. You can buy logo of satisfactory quality for $100 (yes, one hundred dollars). One of the very important factors affecting the price is whether design company uses clip-art (premade pictures or graphic elements) or creates unique logos. Be sure to find out this. Custom logos are much better because you will have exclusive logo nobody has.

Number of concepts is a number of ideas for logos which you will be offered after answering the logo design questionnaire. It is good to have more than one idea for logo because you will be able to choose. Usually, you will receive a couple of ideas in different styles. When you choose a concept for your logo you will be able to change it using revisions.

Number of revisions is a number of possible changes which you can request for a chosen logo design concept free of charge. You can change everything including color, font, graphic element, arrangement of the elements. The more revisions you have the more chances you receive a logo of your dream.

Turnaround time is an amount of time needed for work on your logo. Usually design process takes from 3 to 10 days. There are companies, which can do urgent orders but the cost of logo will be higher.

Number of designers – recently design companies started to indicate number of designers working on your project. Big number of designers should guarantee diversity of the concepts, but this factor is difficult to control and it is difficult to find out how many designers really worked on your project.

Stationery design – it is good if your logo design company will design business cards, letterhead and envelope for you. Usually, you will receive a couple of concepts of business stationery to choose from.

Things to remember during the communications with logo design company:

1. Number of colors of your logo. The more colors you have the more expensive will be cost of printing services.

2. Files optimized for print. Be sure to request files optimized for home and professional printing (tif, pdf, jpg, eps).

3. Source files of your logo (ai, cdr). Be sure to request source files of your logo; you may need them in future.

4. Use of photos in logo. It is very bad idea to use photos in your logo. Such logos are overloaded with graphic elements and have non-professional look.

5. Logotype with abbreviation or without company name. It is very difficult to advertise and promote your company with such logo. Logos with acronyms are good for very big companies which have a lot of money for marketing.

Logo is very important for each company and serves the crucial role of successful marketing. It is vitally important to have good logo from the beginning because redesign of logo will cost you a lot because of need to inform you clients about rebranding, change business stationery and logos on signs, cars, etc.

Smart debt consolidation

There are many benefits to debt consolidation, particularly for individuals who are struggling to pay off high interest debt. Debt consolidation involves taking out a single loan to pay off a number of different debts. These types of loans often result in a significant savings in interest expense. Debt consolidation can reduce your monthly cash outflow, and also reduce the length of time it takes to get out from under your debt. For many people, debt consolidation is the key to getting their finances under control.

If you have credit card bills or other high interest loans and are able to refinance your home or take out a home equity line of credit, it is possible that you can enjoy a significant financial advantage by refinancing. Before you decide to pursue debt consolidation, it is a good idea to educate yourself about what does and does not work to your advantage in such a situation.

For example, it’s important to keep in mind that the purpose of debt consolidation is to take high interest debt and roll it into a lower interest repayment option. If you have low interest loans, such as Federal Student loans, it isn’t generally in your best interest to include them in a debt consolidation. Your student loans probably have a lower interest rate than you will be able to get on a home loan refinance or equity line, so you should leave them alone.

You may also have some debts, such as medical or hospital bills, that do not carry interest. It certainly makes sense to keep paying these obligations on their own. Rolling an interest free debt into an interest bearing debt would cause you to end up repaying more in the long run, which is counter-intuitive to the very purpose of refinancing.

You also need to look closely at your higher interest debts to verify that consolidating them into a new loan is in your best interest. If you have a high interest loan that will be repaid in less than a year, you may be better off leaving it out of the consolidation. The only way to know for sure is to calculate the amount it will cost if you pay the debt off by itself and compare it to the amount it will cost if included in a consolidation package.

By making sure that you are including the right kinds of debts when you consolidate, you can get your financial obligations under control. If you are smart about how you approach debt consolidation, you can really benefit from combining your high interest debts into a single monthly payment. Refinancing your home with a fixed rate mortgage can be an excellent tool for getting out of control debt back in control. You can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing that each payment you make gets you closer to being debt-free.

As always though beware of who you organize your debt consolidation through. Every industry has sharks, so always do due diligence research on the company you use.

The story of sexy lingerie

It is well known that the feminine shape varies a great deal. History tells us that it has always been so!

Throughout the ages, what's been fashionable for the shape of the feminine body has gone from one extreme to the other. However, the charming feminine body has always been subject to what happens to be covering it and history shows us that it's been covered in many different ways. Also, different parts of the feminine form have been intensified, obscured, reduced, increased by the style of the current fashionable adornments.

We've witnessed some unimaginable extremes, from devices that required a small army to coerce the unlucky fashion victim into, to the flimsiest, most whimsical mere flutter of a garment. Let's take a look back in time at how sexy lingerie has developed and how it got to where it is today.

First of all, let's get some terminology sorted out. Thanks to the world's most amorous language, we now almost always refer to feminine 'underwear' as 'lingerie' - unless we're being derogatory in which case, depending on where you reside, you can fill in the blanks!

When we (at least us of the male persuasion) think of lingerie, we think of a flimsy material embellishing the feminine body in a way that gives us a hint of the delights that lie underneath. But the 'first' lingerie, probably from one of the Ancient Greek islands, was far different. These captivating Greek women used a boned corset fitted tightly around the midriff, not for support or even for a 'slimming' effect, but to attract their men by showing their thrusting breasts in a most conspicuous way. Probably not what we would call lingerie today but with much the same desired effect.

As time rolled on, the feminine form took on new 'perfect' shapes dependant on the in thing. As each 'perfect' form emerged, adornments were designed and brought out to embellish and accentuate that desired shape. The culture of the society dictated whether the breasts, the bottom or both would be highlighted and revered. You could argue that nothing much has changed!

During Medieval times it was thought that the natural form and shape of a woman should be constricted and that the breasts should be firm and small. This state of affairs was probably fine for those built naturally that way but perhaps not so good for those of a more ample construction. Many different sorts of corset were worn with the single purpose of flattening the breasts and/or the bottom. It has been said that, in order to draw attention to that part of the anatomy that shouldn't draw attention, some women wore tinkling bells around their neck to remind the men folk of the delights that still lay beneath.

The 'modern' corset is attributed to Catherine de Mйdicis, wife of King Henri II of France. She enforced a ban on broad waists at court attendance during the 1550s and had a questionable effect on women for the next 350 years.

The Renaissance saw another change in the preferred feminine shape. Women now required cone shaped breasts, flat stomachs and slim waists. In order to realize this look, they also needed to employ maids or family members to dress them because the cinching up of their corsets was done from behind and required much effort.

Due to this unnatural method of acquiring 'perfection', Doctors and other notaries made the case that these corsets confined women's bodies so tightly that their internal organs were being damaged and their ribs were being permanently misshapen. Around that time it was common for women to blackout or fall into a swoon. This was usually put down to their delicate nature but, in fact, it was because they simply found it very hard to breathe! There are many accounts of women dying because of fatal punctures to vital organs due to this practice.

In the early 18th century the whalebone corset still kept women tightly bound but the artistry that reflected the times was painstakingly incorporated into clothing and the corsets were decorated with charming ribbons, lace and embroidery. A part of this lightening up was the fact that it became fashionable for the breasts to be pushed upwards to the point of almost popping out.

Towards the end of the 18th century the corset was being worn by gentry, the burgeoning middle class and even by nuns in convents. It was often proudly displayed by its wearer because it was a visible outer item of clothing at that time. In itself it was an object of beauty and ornamentation and its display was part of social courtesy.

However, as people became more educated and aware, they started to question and critique many things including art, politics and, you guessed it, in thing. Backed up by professional people like doctors, public opinion became such that boned corsets were actually outlawed in many countries.

By the early 19th century, a much softer approach to the feminine shape became popular. The in thing still required the support that the old corset had given so it returned with more elaborate methods of construction. Boning was still used in small sections which allowed for better and more comfortable movement.

The in thing at the time was for a more separated look for breasts and a corsetiere by the name of M Leroy (who designed the wedding corset for Marie Luise of Austria when she married Napoleon Bonaparte in 1810) designed a model which he called a 'divorce', allegedly because of the 'separation' involved. The most significant aspect of this perhaps, was the fact that women were able to dress and undress themselves due to more elaborate lacing methods.

During the 1840s the extremely exaggerated shape for women caused whalebone to make a comeback with huge hoops and crinolines that were covered with all kinds of fabric and fineries. Unfortunately for women, it became the in thing to have waists small enough for a man to put his hands around and the need for even harder waist-cinching became the feminine nightmare of the day.

It wasn't long before hoops and crinolines were replaced by the soft 'S' silhouette. This style still used the corset but added a bustle to the back creating an exaggerated posterior. Once again it was the women who had to suffer for in thing, needing to stand most of the time due to the cumbersome bustle on their posteriors. Obviously men found this appealing because it gave them more opportunities to stare at the sexy women with their large bustles.

As more innovation came to in thing design, greater varieties of corsets were brought out. During the morning, a lady could wear a lightly-boned corset for promenading, an elastic corset for riding sidesaddle, a boneless corset for a trip to the beach and a jersey corset for riding her penny farthing. The corsetry industry was in its heyday!

Towards the end of the 19th century the corset supported not only the breasts but also the newly developed stocking. Stockings were held up by garters and suspenders which were then attached to the corset. These devices, although a triumph of design, probably added yet another frustrating dimension to the in thing-conscious feminine of the day.

By the beginning of the 20th century, corsets were being laced down as far as the knee. But many people didn't like that style, and in thing designers were leaning towards an uncorseted, more free-flowing style. Sexy lingerie was about to take a whole new dimension. With the advent of the industrial revolution, and the introduction of the sewing machine, Germany and France opened the first corset factories.

In 1910 New York socialite Mary Phelps Jacob brought out a new type of brassiere. Not satisfied with the corset stiffened with whalebone which she was meant to wear under a new sheer evening gown, Mary worked with her maid to stitch two silk handkerchiefs together with some pink ribbon and cord. It was much softer and shorter than a corset and it allowed the breasts to be shaped in their natural condition.

Mary Phelps Jacob was the first person to patent an item of underwear named 'Brassiere', the name derived from the old French word for 'upper arm'. shortly after, she sold the brassiere patent to the Warner Brothers Corset Company in Bridgeport, Connecticut, for $1,500 (over $25,600 today).

In 1917 the United States War Industries Board asked women to stop buying corsets to free up metal for the production of war materials. This step released some 28,000 tons of metal, sufficient to build two battleships.

Allegedly the success of the brassiere is due primarily to The Great War. The Great War changed gender roles forever, putting many women to work in factories and wearing uniforms for the first time. Women needed practical, comfortable undergarments. Warner went on to rake in more than 15 dollars from the brassiere patent over the next thirty years.

The other thing to consider in the downfall of the corset was that The Great War had taken its toll on the number of men. This meant more competition for finding a man so women needed to look their sexiest!

With the Roaring Twenties and its sophisticated parties, in thing was turned on its head, the boyish look was in. The pursual of flat chests and stomachs along with straight hips and buttocks led to the creation of the liberty bodice, the chemise, and bloomers which were loose-fitting and light. For the first time pastel-colored underwear appeared to replace plain old-fashioned white. To enhance the boyish look the first brassieres were designed to flatten the breasts. What happened to the corset? The posterior part that held up the stockings was shortened and became the suspender belt.

The full-figured look came back in the 1930s. The feminine look once again became the in thing. Women were encouraged to look well-proportioned with a full-figure while remaining fairly slim in the hips. Now women had a full set of underwear to help with the image: breast-enhancing brassieres, elastic suspender belts, not forgetting the girdle, which kept all the curves in their designated place.

The 1930s also saw one of the biggest advancements in the underwear industry when the Dunlop Rubber company developed Lastex, an elastic, two-way stretch textile made from the fine thread of a chemically modified rubber called Latex. This could be interwoven with fabric which allowed the industry to make underwear in a multitude of sizes to appropriately fit a woman's body.

The arrival of World War II and its shortages meant that Germany was unable to import the fabrics they had used before then and their industry failed. Forever inventive, people started making underwear knitted at home out of materials to hand. Not the sexiest of lingerie but at least they kept warm.

After the war underwear consisted of basic brassieres and suspender belts. This was acceptable to many women but the teenage girl, just coming out of the hardship of the war years, became a target market. These young women couldn't wait to blossom into women and wearing lingerie was a fantastic step towards achieving that goal. The German underwear industry brought out lingerie sets that appealed to these young girls and the industry never looked back.

In the U. S., the underwear industry was trying to create something new and cutting edge. Women were bombarded with all kinds of undergarments and top clothing to help them look sexy. The film producer Howard Hughes brought out a new brassiere, a special wire-reinforced design for Jane Russell. This caused the censors throw a tantrum about miss Russell's breasts being blatantly exposed all because of Hughes' terrifically innovative brassiere improvements.

The 1960s was a bad decade for the underwear industry thanks to the rise of women's emancipation movements. Feminists burned their brassieres and many lingerie manufacturers were forced out of business. However Lycra had just been developed and women began to wear tight-fitting leggings. The iconic in thing item of that decade however, was arguably the sexy little mini-skirt and the demand for bikini briefs. Famously, for a scant moment in time, topless swimsuits and topless dresses were the rage. But, unfortunately for most men and fortunately for the in thing industry, they were merely a 'flash-in-the-pan'!

The 1980s saw the wire-reinforced brassiere become the number one best seller. While these are still very popular today, the best seller at the moment is the push-up bra. Statistically the average woman from the USA owns six brassieres, one of which is a strapless bra and one is a color other than white.

The modern feminine shape varies and is not as susceptible to fashion trends as in previously. However, the charming sex will always looks breathtaking in sexy, slinky lingerie!

So, there we are. From the push-up corsets of ancient Greece to the push-up brassiere of today. Sexy lingerie? Nothing ever really changes!

5 easy and quick ways to improve your credit score

:
Your Credit Score is one of your biggest financial assets. If your credit score is high, your borrowing rates will be low and therefore save you hundreds of dollars. The big mystery is how to maintain a high credit score. Well if you want to either maintain or repair your credit score, you are in luck, it can take as little as two months to raise your credit rating.

Your credit score is based on a few prime factors, there is no particular order in which I will discuss them (Some of them have higher weights in regards to the score). Repayment history, current debt owed, recent credit checks, and registered income (there are other factors as well). In order to repair or raise your score you may follow a few of the steps provided below.

1.) Pay off all revolving credit cards. Revolving credit cards are like Discover card or any other monthly credit cards. Even though you might pay before the deadline, credit card companies report the debt owed on a monthly basis which may be before the deadline. On your credit score it will not show as bad debt, but it will decrease your overall score. The standard recommendations are as follows. If you have one credit card, pay it off before the months end. Second, if you have two credit cards, pay the minimum on both of them and work on paying in full one of them first.
2.) Registered Income. This is your official salary from work. Basically the numbers they crunch are matched with what you earn. If you debt is larger than what you earn, your credit score is lowered. So, if you are an independent contractor or your income is just a little too low get a part time job. This will rise your potential earnings and increase your ability to repay your debt and therefore increase your credit score.
3.) Check your credit score online with one of the official companies to see what or why your credit score is the level it is. This will help you determine what you can really do to increase your credit score.
4.) Do not apply for every car, credit card, and home that you are looking at as an eager consumer. Because every time you try to purchase a home, car, or get a new credit card your credit score is checked and the crediting agencies lower your score if you have had two or three credit checks withing a few months of each other.
5.) Lastly, open a savings account and budget your money accordingly that you will always have extra cash to help in times of need.

Protect your credit score because it can mean everything when buying a home or trying to get some capital for whatever purpose you need it for. It is not hard to raise your credit score, it is hard to maintain it. If you can purchase a credit score monitoring service, it will protect you from fraud and help inform you of ways to increase your credit score when needed.

1. All About Rudolph and Santa's Other Reindeers

Maybe it's the undeniable alliterative appeal of Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer

that makes him the most known or popular of all Santa's nine flying reindeers.

It certainly doesn't seem as easy to come up with a similar catchy description

for the others - Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and

Blitzen - as named in the song.

The story of Rudolph whose glowing red nose made him a standout, first appeared

in 1939 when Montgomery Ward department stores distributed about 2.4 million

booklets with the poem in the form of a story about "Rudolph the Red-Nosed

Reindeer." It was written by Robert L. May, who worked in the store's

advertisement or marketing department, to be used to attract more people into

the store. When the booklet was reissued in 1939, sales soared to more than 3.5

million copies. But it wasn't until a decade later, in 1949, that the story

really gained immense popularity when Gene Autry sang a musical version of the

fable. As a Christmas song, it is second only in popularity to 'White

Christmas.'

Rudolph, the ninth reindeer whose lighted nose guides Santa's sleigh through the

night, is now known worldwide as the song has been translated into more than 20

different languages and an animated television movie has also been based on the

story. Rudolph and his noticeable nose have also become the subject of jokes and

sparked more interest in reindeers which has led to much research into Santa and

the flying reindeers who pull his sleigh through the sky.

Along with the catchy rhythm of the lyrics, Rudolph's story is also appealing

because of the moral lessons it contains. As the story goes, Rudolph was

ostracized by the other reindeers, which laughed and teased him about his shiny

red nose. But on a foggy night, when Santa must have been concerned that he may

not be able to deliver his Christmas gifts around the world, Santa spotted him

and kindly asked if he would step to the front as the leader to 'guide my sleigh

tonight.' His shiny red nose would after all be very useful in lighting the way,

Santa thought. From then on 'all of the other reindeers loved him," and rightly

predicted that he 'would go down in history.'

Among the moral lessons the story can impart is that an attribute that is

perceived as negative or as a liability can be used for a positive purpose, or,

become an asset. It also makes the point that an individual should not let the

negative behavior of others define him or her and limit expectations of what can

be achieved. And it also illustrates how quickly opinions and attitudes about a

person can change.

The question still lingers however of where Rudolph came from. He is commonly

regarded as the son of Donner (or Donder), one of the original eight reindeers.

But the Snopes. com site rejects this however, saying that he dwelled in a

reindeer village elsewhere and it was there that he was seen by Santa who had

already started on his Christmas Eve journey to deliver gifts. And in a more

modern evolution of the story according to Wikipedia. com, an animation by the

British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) introduced a son, named Robbie, of

Rudolph. That son has now become the tenth reindeer.

It's also interesting to note that the idea of Santa's sleigh being pulled by

reindeers was originated in the poem, 'Twas The Night Before Christmas.' That

poem tells the story of St. Nicholas, who is Santa, calling his eight tiny

reindeers by their names, as previously mentioned, just before he came down the

chimney of a house to start filling the stockings from a sack full of toys he

carried on his back.

Hair loss caused by lichen planus

There are several factors that can result in hair loss. One common disease is a disorder known as lichen planus. This particular disease is not in itself a direct cause but it is an important trigger and often causes complications with the scalp and can lead to this problem.

Lichen planus is more of a skin disorder that also affects other areas of the body. Thus, it can not only affect the skin and body, but also the scalp. When the scalp is affected, hair loss is experienced. Licen phanus is usually considered to be an allergic reaction and is often associated with a poor immune system. Some believe that lichen planus is triggered from excessive stress. Stress weakens the body’s immune system and render it susceptible to infection and other health symptoms such as hair loss. The chances of getting another lichen planus attack rise with the first affliction, even with treatment and prevention measures.

Lichen planus is most identifiable by the changes in the skin that occur. There will be itching in certain areas of the skin, as well as skin lesions that will appear in a variety of places. The skin lesions will have a variety of attributes related to their shape, size and color, all which will help you in identifying the disorder. There may also be nail abnormalities, such as ridges in the nails that begin to appear. The skin lesions will then begin to move into the mouth area and cause your mouth to feel dry. From here, lichen planus will begin to show on the scalp area and hair will be lost from the irritation from the scalp area.

Once you notice these symptoms, do not wait too long to treat the lichen planus. In most cases, the symptoms are not severe enough and will simply go away over time. However, there is also the possibility of the symptoms become full blown and it will be more difficult to treat at that point in time.

For treatment, you can take prescribed medications. Antihistamines are useful in helping to treat lichen planus. Vitamin A in the form of ointments and creams are also considered to be effective. It can be expected that this disorder will disappear after a few months or after a longer amount of time. Also, ensure a healthy diet and lifestyle to boost your immune system.

If you notice both the above mentioned symptoms and also experience hair loss at the same time, then it is possible that you can be having lichen planus. To be absolutely sure, it is best to seek a professional diagnosis. Lichen planus can cause much discomfort to you as it affects your physical appearance. Understanding what the symptoms of lichen planus are and knowing what to do will help you repair your skin and treat yourself from hair loss.

Used cellular phones should you buy a used cellular phone

In today’s day and age, people go through cellular phones pretty quickly. While sometimes it’s the result of a cell phone getting lost or broken, many times it’s simply because the person gets tired of their old phone and wants something different. If you fit into this category, I’m going to show you in this article why it might not be a bad idea for you to buy used cellular phones in the future.

Buying used stuff has never been any easier than it is today. With the growth of the Internet, it’s now possible to find virtually anything imaginable, pre-owned and for sale. This has resulted in enormous growth of second hand sales, and it’s something that you should try when you’re ready to buy your next cell phone.

The most obvious advantage to buying a used mobile phone is the fact that you’re going to save quite a bit of money. Buying a gently used cell phone will allow you to get that new “toy” you wanted, at a cost that’s reasonable.

Another big advantage to buying a pre-owned cell phone is the fact that you won’t have to enter into any new contracts as a result of changing equipment. If you were to walk into any cellular phone provider location and purchase a new handset, it would either be extremely expensive or you would have to sign a contract in order to get the phone at a discount.

So where do you look for deals on used cellular phones? Personally, I always turn to eBay. I’ve found that eBay has the best prices on pre-owned mobile phones as well as the best selection. Note: Always purchase from a reputable seller with an excellent feedback record!

Hopefully this article has given you some good reasons for purchasing used cellular phones. Buying second hand phones is a great way to save a ton of money and I’m really shocked that more people don’t do it!

New homes 04

I have always wanted to own a home of my own, but I have never had the money to. It isn't that I haven't made enough money in my job, but I haven't made home ownership enough of a priority. I've never really spent enough time saving money. Usually, it is out of my pocket as quickly as I can spend it. I have been renting a home this past year in Portland, watching new homes being put up behind my lot. It is amazing how quickly this new construction goes up. When I first got here, there was a big empty lot behind our backyard. Six months later, there is not a single spot that doesn't have a new home on it. The homes are not completely finished, but they are getting pretty close.

Living near all these new homes has got me thinking. It really does make sense for me to buy a home. When you are renting, you get no equity out of the money you put in. You just pay your rent to your landlord every month, and that is it. You never gain anything. With new homes, however, you have an investment. You are not just throwing money away, you get something from it.

I began to realize that, if I make the right financial choices, it won't be hard for me to buy a new home. The market goes in cycles, but if you are willing to keep an eye out for the right moment to buy, you can get some pretty good financing for building your own home. Portland probably isn't the place to do it however. In the next couple years, property is only going to continue to skyrocket, so I probably missed my chance to buy a home in Oregon.

That is why I have been thinking about moving lately. I have a friend who is a contractor in Florida, and he told me a lot about the new homes construction going on over there. Apparently, they're putting up new homes like mad, but having trouble finding buyers. They overestimated the market, and as a result they can't sell all the houses that they're making. Since I have a job that mostly involves telecommuting, this might be the perfect chance for me to buy real estate. It will be hard to leave my friends and move across the family, but it might be worth it.

Why consolidate debt

People consolidate debt in order to reduce their monthly payments. With a consolidated loan, financial institutions such as banks and credit unions pay off all of a consumers loans and replace them with a single "consolidated" loan of all the combined debt, usually at a lower, fixed interest rate. Consumers can use consolidated loans to pay of debt on automobiles, credit cards, student loans, medical bills, etc.

If you can't meet your minimum monthly payments, if your loan or loans still have a lot of life left to them, or if you can get a lower, fixed rate, then it may be worth it to consolidate. But there are some questions to ask yourself first: Are you willing to extend the life of your loan in exchange for lower payments? This is typically how financial organizations are able to offer consolidated loans at such lower rates.

Are you ready for a new 20 or 30 year commitment? And most importantly, are you aware that when you consolidate your debt and extend the repayment term, while it reduces your monthly payments, it will actually increase the total dollar amount of interest youХll pay over the long haul? So ask yourself, how close are you to paying your loans off? It may be more trouble than itХs worth, and way more costly, to consolidate for a lower rate if you only have a few more years of payments under you existing loans. One of the most common ways to consolidate loans is to use the equity in your home. This can be as risky a venture as it is convenient. To consolidate this way, you would be turning unsecured debt into secured debt. You now have even more to lose than before if you should default on your new consolidated loan. At least with your current loans you donХt have the items you purchased on your credit card taken away from you. But with a home equity consolidated lender will not hesitate to take your house if you fail to make your payments.

Another type of consolidated loan to beware of is the consolidated loan that offers you an unbelievably cheap interest rate even if your credit is lousy. The catch with this type of consolidated loan is the exorbitant application fee. If you can afford the application fee, you're better off applying that same amount to paying off your debt. Plus, there are so many wolves in sheep's clothing offering these types of consolidated deals, you may never actually see you consolidated loan when all is said and done. With those warnings in mind, it may still be well worth your while to consolidate debt, and to do it sooner than later. For one, the opportunity to consolidate debt may not be around for very much longer. Both congress and the President are considering legislation that could turn fixed interest consolidated loans into variable rate loans, or get rid of consolidated loans altogether.

If you chose not to consolidate your loans, or are unable to for any reason to consolidate, you could also consider having payments automatically deducted from your bank account on a regular basis. While it doesn't lower your expenses like a consolidated loan, it does ensure that your payments are made on time, and it will help you improve your credit score.

Online education and the arts

Online Education And The Arts

Anyone who has ever taken a closer look at the majority of courses offered by online universities will agree that the majority of courses are aimed at those wanting to go into the fields of nursing, business, law or education. The market seems to be flooded with different degrees concerning those subjects, but very little else. You have to know where to look if you want to find other degrees, especially those concerning the arts, but they are out there if you look hard enough. In fact, there is one specific online university that offers arts based degrees and the choice is comprehensive because that university happens to only offer specialist arts course. The university is the Arts Institute Online.

Offering a whole range of degrees covering every aspect of the arts, the Art Institute Online has a fantastic reputation amongst the online learning community. Although it is an extension of a campus based university system, this allows it to offer comprehensive courses that are tailored to an online audience and yet actually teach individuals everything they need to know about their chosen area of study. The idea is to give an individual access to the classroom day and night so they can choose a specific time to study that fits perfectly into their hectic schedule.

In order to apply, you can fill in an online form, which is similar to the one that a campus student might fill in. However, you have to prove that you can use a computer comfortably and have the discipline to stick to the regime that they set in place. They have requirements, just as any other university does, but they are more stringent than the majority of online universities. You are required to log in at least five times a week and are obliged to read the lecture notes, complete set assignments and make comments on the forums during that period. You have to be online for at least twelve hours a week for every course that you actually take and this means that they will monitor your movements within the classroom. A benefit of this, though, is that you still interact with the students so you have a semblance of a campus social life, but with a twist!

The Arts Institute Online offers bachelor degrees, associate degrees and diplomas, depending on the subject that you are interested in. There are fourteen courses to choose from in total, including advertising, fashion, interior design, graphic design and media arts and animation. In truth, whatever your interest in the arts, you can find a course to suit you. The teaching methods at the Arts Institute Online are formidable and amongst the best in the world of online education because they expect so much from their students. As a result, they get the best possible students and enhance their reputation even further with every passing year.

The Arts Institute Online is most definitely one of the premier online colleges out there and is worth considering if you plan to do an arts based online degree. However, if you do not feel that you can stick to their stringent requirements then you should consider one of the other options available to you out there. Although the arts usually take a back seat to education and business, amongst others, they are still kept alive and well! A little research will reveal a variety of courses so that you can choose the best one for you!

Galactose everything you ever wanted to know

Galactose is one of the 8 saccharides known as Glyconutrients. They are vital nutrients to the body and are:

• Mannose

• Glucose

• Galactose

• Xylose

• Fucose (not fructose)

• N-acetylglucosamine

• N-acetylneuramic acid

• N-acetylgalactosamine

Galactose is found in sugar beets and dairy products. It is a sugar and is also known as brain sugar. Because it has food energy it is known as a nutritive sweetener. It is not very water-soluble and is less sweet than glucose. When joined with glucose it forms the disaccharide known as lactose found in milk. Alone glactose is known as a monosaccharide.

Galactose is a vital nutrient in our body and deficiencies can cause serious metabolic disorders:

• Mental retardation

• Cataracts

• A rare deficiency UDPgalactose-4-epimerase deficiency can cause nerve deafness

• Galactose-1-phosphate uridyl transferase deficiency

• Compulsive blinking disorder.

Glactose is found in a number of natural products combined with other sugars, the most notable being lactose (combination of glactose and glucose). It is the glactose in lactose that causes an inability to digest dairy products known as lactose intolerance. It is also found in polysaccharides, carbohydrates and lipids. Lipids are found in the nerve tissue and the brain. Glactose is used in medicines and synthetic substances.

A rare heriditary disease is known as Galactosemia can be found in infants. It occurs when there is too much Glactose in the body. This is caused by a liver enzyme deficiency. It is very important to diagnose this metabolic disorder early so that life long problems do not occur. This is a hereditary disease. It can only occur if one or both parents have this disorder. The disease will become apparent in the 1st days of life when the infant starts taking milk or formula.

Jaundice, liver enlargement and vomiting are the usual signs of Galactosemia. However it can be further complicated by other infections. Blood tests will usually confirm diagnosis. If left untreated the disease can get serious and lead to kidney, liver, eye, and brain damage.

The treatment is a glactose free diet. This is a long-term treatment and may have to be maintained for years and sometimes the whole of the person’s life. As an added precaution Expectant Mothers who are known to be at risk for this disease can also be placed on a glactose free diet during pregnancy. If diagnosed and treated early in life with an infant any liver damage will automatically heal up however if left untreated there can be irreversible damage. All jaundiced babies should be tested for Galactosemia. Galactose is also used for research into eye diseases.

Consumption of yogurt and cottage cheese will produce more Galactose as the lactose in these 2 substances is easily broken down into the monosaccharide forms of glucose and galactose. Galactose can also be found in pectin, which can be obtained from fruits especially strawberries, and citrus fruits.

Why we designed our own nas servers for use in our data center

Over the past few years, we at Technetium, Inc. have had the opportunity to deal with Snap because of our model 14000 Snap servers. One day we installed new managed switches and the Snap Web-based management console would no longer operate. It would just hang at gigabit speed. To make a long story short, after exhausting all of my options on the Internet, I sent Snap technical support an email to try and resolve the problem. Here is their response:

Your case, 000000000005476, was updated. Please refer to the information below for our response. Please Click here if you need additional support on this issue.

Please do not reply to this email as it will not be seen by a live representative.

Your Query:

I have 2 snap 12000s and they will not negotiate 1000tx to my Dell Powerconnect 5324 switch. I'm afraid to set the nic in debug to anything other than auto.

It also shows half duplex when the switch shows full duplex.

Thank you in advance,

Todd Foster

Our Response:

Good morning Todd.

Again this is not technical support. We can be reached on a pay-per-incident of $120.00 through our 2 numbers: 408-934-7274 and 321-207-2000.

Sincerely,

Adaptec Customer Service

To my dismay, they wanted $120 just to talk to me, and my bet is they wanted another $1,000 or so to upgrade the software. On their Website I could not find any way to buy support for this model any more. And by the way, to add replication between 2 of their Snap servers, it would cost something like $1,000 per box.

So, here we are, with 2 boxes, no support, and I'll bet that you can't even buy parts for it any more from Snap, much less anywhere else (maybe eBay?).

Off we go to buy new NAS replacements. Originally these 14000's were $10K apiece, for roughly 1TB of storage. All things being equal, I should be able to buy a NAS box for really cheap (yeah right!). What I found was that a high-quality NAS system that would do RAID 5 would cost between $3,500 and 4,500, not to mention that a 1TB Snap 520 would be over $5K. That is when we decided to build our own NAS servers!

With a great backround in PC/server hardware, it was easy for me to pick top-quality hardware and brand name components. I still have Pentium Pro servers that work! I chose the best hardware, put it in a rack mount server case, and voila! I have a NAS server. Here is the list of components:

* FreeNAS redone to work with the hardware that we provide

* Kingwin 4 in 3 Multi-Drive Bay SATA Internal Hot Swap Mobile Rack, w/ Key Lock, LED Indicator & Two 40mm Cooling Fans

* SONY Beige DDU1615 Internal EIDE 16X DVD-ROM Drive

* Enermax ELT500AWT 500W Power Supply

* 4U IPC-4071 Rackmount Chassis Server Case - Beige Color

* Transcend TS256MCF45I-D flash card

* 4 ea. Seagate(ST3500630NS)500GB SATA 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM 16MB Buff Hard drive

* Addonics ADSACFW CF to SATA adapter

* SUPERMICRO|MBD-PDSME+

* 3WARE 9650SE-4LPML SATAII RAID controller

* INTEL XEON 3060 775 2.4G 4M

* 1Gx2|Kingston DII667 KVR667D2N5K2/2G

We need an OS now, and for that I picked FreeNAS (http://www. freenas. org) which runs on FreeBSD. You can't ask for a more stable operating system. And by the way, the FreeNAS OS runs from memory and boots from a CF card (no chance of the hard drive crashing and destroying the config). This custom built NAS system has turned out great, and our client is very pleased with the money we saved them.

Acne how the acne scars are treated

Acne scars leave their mark not only on the skin but also on the sufferers psyche. With rapid developments in dermatology, treating acne scars is becoming easier. Please consult your dermatologist about the best treatment for your acne scars. The choice will depend upon your medical history, the type of scar and the kinds of treatments available for that type of scarring. Some treatments are cheaper than others but may not give perfect results. The choice therefore also depends upon your budget and the kind of results you desire. Let us look at the kinds of treatments available for acne scars.

Dermabrasion - this is considered one of the most effective treatments for acne scars. In this procedure the doctor uses a local anesthetic or freezes the skin and then uses a high-speed rotary abrader to remove unwanted surface skin. As the skin heals, it shows a brighter appearance. This procedure may remove superficial scars altogether and reduces deeper scars.

Chemical Peeling - depending on the scar, your doctor will apply a mild chemical peel on the affected skin. This slowly peels away the old skin and brings in fresh skin. Mild scars can be treated with chemical peels.

Laser Therapy - lasers of different types are used by the doctor to give a new shape to the scarred skin by recontouring the scars. The high burst of laser may leave the skin red for sometime.

Soft Tissue Filling - Collagen that may be bovine in source or patients own may be injected below the scar to lift the skin and give a smooth appearance. As the injected collagen gets absorbed in the body over a period, further treatments may be needed after about six months. Similarly fat may be injected below deep scars for giving a lift to the skin. Similar to collagen filling, fat injections may need to be repeated after some months. Your doctor will advise you about that.

Skin surgery - Skin may have to be surgically corrected with grafting or other procedures to remove some scars.

Microdermabrasion - In this procedure very tiny aluminum oxide crystals are passed through a vacuum tube to scrape the surface of the skin. this procedure may have to be repeated many times, an d gives a fresh look to the skin by scraping. Very mild scarring can be treated with microdermabrasion.

For people who have the tendency to form keloids, no surgical method can be used. If one can develop keloid with acne injury, more keloids will be formed by further surgery. steroid injections may be used to treat keloids. In some cases topical retinoic acid is applied directly on the keloids.
